The information contained below is designed to provide a summary of the minimum education, experience, and examination requirements established by the Connecticut Real Estate Commission.

Pre License
Real Estate Salesperson
- Bear a good reputation for honesty, truthfulness, and fair dealing
- Competent to transact the business of a real estate salesperson in such a manner as to safeguard the interest of the public
- Successfully complete a course approved by the commission in real estate principles and practices consisting of at least 60 hours of study OR
- Has equivalent experience or education as determined by the commission
- Submit application and associated fee
- Pass State Examination
Real Estate Broker
- Bear a good reputation for honesty, truthfulness, and fair dealing
- Competent to transact the business of a real estate broker in such a manner as to safeguard the interest of the public
- Must have been actively engaged as a Real Estate Salesperson, under the supervision of a licensed broker, for the past 2 years
- Successfully complete a course approved by the commission in real estate principles and practices consisting of at least 60 hours of study
- Successfully complete an additional 30 real estate appraisal course approved by the commission AND
- Successfully complete a course approve by the commission consisting of at least 30 hours as prescribed by the commission OR
- Has equivalent experience or education determined by the commission.

- Pass State Examination
Reciprocity: Connecticut recognizes reciprocal licenses from the following jurisdictions: AL, CO, GA, IL, IN, MA, MI, NE, NY, NC, OH, OK, RI, and TN.
Continuing Education
- Complete 12 Hours of Continuing Education courses from approved school. The courses shall consist of the following
- Three hours (3) course: CT Buyer Agency: Mandatory Course for 2010 CE Cycle
- Three hours (3) course: CT Disclosure, RESPA, and Law Update: Mandatory Course for 2010 CE Cycle
- Six (6) hours of Real Estate electives
OR
- Pass the 40-question Connecticut Continuing Education Examination. You can schedule a test date directly with the testing company, PSI. Call PSI to schedule the test date at: 1-800-733-9267
OR
- Brokers - If you passed the Connecticut Broker full licensing examination between 4/1/2008 and 3/31/2010, you do not need to take the continuing education courses.
- Salespersons – If you passed the Connecticut Salesperson full licensing examination between 6/1/2008 and 5/31/2010, you do not need to take the continuing education courses.
