Nebraska Real Estate State Requirements
The information contained below is designed to provide a summary of the minimum education, experience, and examination requirements established by the Nebraska Real Estate Commission.

Sales Person
- Obtain 60 hours of approved pre-license education
- Obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Pass state exam with 75% or better
- Submit application with appropriate fees
- Submit current criminal history report
Broker
- Obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Obtain 180 hours of approved pre-license education OR
- 120 hours of Pre-license education and 2 years full time Salesperson experience or part-time equivalent
- Pass a state exam with 75% or better
- Submit application with appropriate fee
- Submit current criminal history report
Continuing Education
- Complete 12 hours of state approved courses every 2 years.
- These hours must include 3 hours of Mandatory courses chosen from:
- NE License Law
- NE Landlord/Tenant Act
- NE Trust Accounting Maintenance
- Agency/Brokerage Relationship
- Fair Housing/ADA
- Ethical Decision Making
- Preparing a Certified Market Analysis and/or Broker Price Opinion
- The other 9 hours are elective courses
Sales agents renew every two years from the date their license was received.
