The information contained below is designed to provide a summary of the minimum education, experience and examination requirements established by the Oklahoma Real Estate Appraiser Board.

Levels of Licensure

There are four levels of real estate appraiser licensing. They are:

  1. Appraiser Trainee License
  2. State Licensed Appraiser License
  3. Certified Residential Appraiser License
  4. Certified General Appraiser License

License and Certification Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

Each level must successfully complete the specified hours of approved real estate appraisal courses for each level of licensure, which includes at least 15 hours on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). The specified hours are:

All experience must be supported by documentation on forms provided by the Board.

  1. There is no experience requirement for the Appraiser Trainee. Appraiser Trainee's experience must be under the direct supervision of a Licensed/Certified Appraiser.
  2. Applicants for a State Licensed Appraiser license shall have obtained 2,000 hours preceding the application to the Board.
  3. Applicants for a Certified Residential Appraiser license shall have a minimum of 2,500 of experience obtained during no fewer than a 24 month period.
  4. Applicants for a Certified General Appraiser license shall have a minimum of 3,000 hours over a 30 month period. Of these hours, 1,500 must be in non-residential properties.

Continuing Education Requirements:

When renewing license/certificates, Appraisers must submit proof of 42 hours of continuing education credit taken within the three years of licensing/certification.

License Renewal

License expire every three years from the date printed on the license.
