The information contained below is designed to provide a summary of the minimum education, experience, and examination requirements established by the West Virginia Real Estate Commission.

Real Estate License
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent
- Complete 90 hours of Commission approved prelicense education consisting of:
- 30 hours of Real Estate Principles and Practices
- 20 hours of Real Estate Law
- 20 hours of Real Estate Finance
- 20 hours of Real Estate Appraisal
- Pass the State examination
- Submit an application and associated fees
Real Estate License
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent
- Complete 90 hours of Commission approved prelicense education consisting of:
- 30 hours of Real Estate Principles and Practices
- 20 hours of Real Estate Law
- 20 hours of Real Estate Finance
- 20 hours of Real Estate Appraisal
- These 90 hour courses prescribed for brokers are the same hours as for salesperson education requirements, but consist of more in-depth coverage in each subject area
- Must have been licensed for a minimum of 2 years as a salesperson
- Pass the State examination
- Submit an application and associated fees
Continuing Education
- Complete 7 hours of state approved elective courses every year,
Sales agents renew by June 30 of every year
